ACTING
In late 2019, Ms. Henry returned to the theatrical stage and garnered critical praise in the musical version of “The Bodyguard”; she’s portrayed 'Shug Avery' in “The Color Purple”; ‘Brenda’ in “Smokey Joe’s Cafe”; and she starred in the worldwide debut of the musical “A Wonderful World,” based on the life of Louis Armstrong.

RECORDING CAREER
Nicole Henry started her recording career in college while at the University of Miami. Though not a music major, she was often singing at talent shows and competitions, national anthems at school and Miami Heat games, school and church choirs (guest vocalist). Then a DJ invited her to record a few house music tracks. This is when Nicole fell in love performing for music venue audiences. Then in 1998, one of those songs reached #8 on the Billboard Dance Music Chart. That gave her inspiration that she could "somehow make a music career happen."
Since then, she's released eight albums and has recorded with musical greats Kirk Whalum, Julian Lage, John Clayton, and Gerald Clayton. She has performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, Pasadena Pops, Michael Feinstein and saxophonist Paul Taylor .
COLLEGE & CAREER ARC
Growing up in a musical family in Bucks County, PA, Ms. Henry immersed herself in the arts early on, singing in school and church and studying cello and ballet. After graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Communications and Theatre, she launched a successful acting career, appearing in national commercial roles and a series of voiceover assignments. However, she directed her strongest passion toward developing her full-time singing career.

Henry supports non-profits: Miami Music Project (Board Member); Miami Children’s Initiative (past Board Member): National Public Radio; World Food Program; Feeding America; SAVE Foundation; Planned Parenthood; and Doctors Without Borders. Ms. Henry has also served two terms on the Board of the Florida Chapter of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs).
